Why was my card declined?
You may have been declined for a number of different reasons.
- You may not have enough money on your card, so please check your balance. Remember, you can only spend the available balance on the card so if you have insufficient funds, you will be declined.
- You have tried to use your card in a retailer who is not part of the programme. Make sure you check the list of available retailers where you can use your card.
- The retailer has not provided us details of a specific store. If you are declined in a location where you believe your card should have been accepted, please contact us so that we can resolve. We will be able to add that location to ensure future transactions go through.
- You have not successfully authenticated yourself when required, resulting in a fraud declined
- You have exceeded transaction rules, for example the number of contactless transactions completed in a row.
- There is a technical failure.
If you have enough money on your card, and you definitely tried to use your card at a participating retailer but were still declined, please contact us and we will look into this further for you.
